# Configure Kubernetes Monitoring

You have many options for configuration, depending on your circumstances and the technologies you prefer.

> Note
>
> Kubernetes Monitoring is available only in Grafana Cloud, and only supports data sources hosted in Grafana Cloud.

## Configure with Grafana Kubernetes Monitoring Helm chart

You can configure with the [Grafana Kubernetes Monitoring Helm chart](/docs/grafana-cloud/monitor-infrastructure/kubernetes-monitoring/configuration/config-k8s-helmchart/), which deploys Grafana Alloy. With this method, you can send metrics, logs, events, traces, and cost metrics.

### Platform choices

You can deploy the Kubernetes Monitoring Helm chart on the following platforms:

- Kubernetes, including:

  - [Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS)](https://aws.amazon.com/eks/) on [Amazon Elastic Cloud Compute (EC2)](https://aws.amazon.com/kubernetes/)
  - [Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE)](https://cloud.google.com/kubernetes-engine?hl=en)
- [Amazon EKS on AWS Fargate](https://docs.aws.amazon.com/eks/latest/userguide/fargate.html)
- [Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)](https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/products/kubernetes-service)
- [Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) Autopilot](https://cloud.google.com/kubernetes-engine/docs/concepts/autopilot-overview)
- [IBM Cloud Kubernetes Service](https://www.ibm.com/products/kubernetes-service)
- [Red Hat OpenShift](https://www.redhat.com/en/technologies/cloud-computing/openshift)

## Collect data from applications

To collect data from applications on your Cluster, you can use any of these methods:

- Configure [Application Observability receivers](/docs/grafana-cloud/monitor-infrastructure/kubernetes-monitoring/configuration/helm-chart-config/helm-chart/collector-reference/#application-receiver) in your Helm chart values to receive OpenTelemetry, Zipkin, or Jaeger data from instrumented applications.
- Add an integration compatible with Kubernetes Monitoring to gather Prometheus metrics. To view the available integrations, navigate to the **Configuration** page, and click the **Integrations** tab.
- In cases where an integration is not available for your program, refer to [Scraping application metrics](/docs/grafana-cloud/monitor-infrastructure/kubernetes-monitoring/configuration/helm-chart-config/scrape-app-pod-metrics/).

## Configure by other methods

There are [other methods](/docs/grafana-cloud/monitor-infrastructure/kubernetes-monitoring/configuration/config-other-methods/) you can use to configure Kubernetes Monitoring, including:

- [OTel Collector with Prometheus exporters](/docs/grafana-cloud/monitor-infrastructure/kubernetes-monitoring/configuration/config-other-methods/otel-collector/)
- [OTel Collector with OTel receivers](/docs/grafana-cloud/monitor-infrastructure/kubernetes-monitoring/configuration/config-other-methods/otel-collector-receivers/)
- [remote-write](/docs/grafana-cloud/monitor-infrastructure/kubernetes-monitoring/configuration/config-other-methods/prometheus/) from Prometheus installations
- [Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service](/docs/grafana-cloud/monitor-infrastructure/kubernetes-monitoring/configuration/config-other-methods/config-aws-eks/)
- [Helm and Ansible](/docs/grafana-cloud/monitor-infrastructure/kubernetes-monitoring/configuration/config-other-methods/ansible-config/)
- [Helm and Terraform](/docs/grafana-cloud/monitor-infrastructure/kubernetes-monitoring/configuration/config-other-methods/helm-terraform-config/)
- [Kube-Prometheus Helm stack migration](/docs/grafana-cloud/monitor-infrastructure/kubernetes-monitoring/configuration/config-other-methods/helm-operator-migration/)
