# Install and use alerts

After you configure GCP metrics, you can install the prebuilt alerts and review the alert rules available for Google Cloud services.

## Install alerts

Preconfigured alerts require a one-time installation.

> Note
>
> If you are assigned the Viewer Grafana Cloud basic role or are not assigned a Grafana Cloud basic role, you must have the `Alerting:Rules Writer`, `Alerting:Set provisioning status`, and `Folders:Writer` fixed roles to install alerts and access folders. For more information on assigning roles, refer to [Assign RBAC roles](/docs/grafana/latest/administration/roles-and-permissions/access-control/assign-rbac-roles/#assign-rbac-roles).

To install preconfigured alerts:

1. After you configure metrics, click the **Configuration** tab.
2. Scroll down to the **Alerts Installation** section and click **Install**.

To view preconfigured alerts, click the **Alerts** tab.

## View and use alerts

To view alerts, open the **Alerts** tab. To see a recommendation for alert resolution, click the tooltip in the row of the **Summary** column. In the **Alert** column, click the alert to view the dashboard for that service.
