Knowledge graph pricing
The knowledge graph has no pricing model of its own. It’s included in every Grafana Cloud stack. Observability solutions add entities and insights to the knowledge graph. Those entities and insights add active series, which are billed at standard Grafana Cloud Metrics rates.
How the knowledge graph is billed
The knowledge graph doesn’t add a separate charge. You pay for the active series that entities and insights create.
Application Observability and Kubernetes Monitoring still bill host hours for those products. Kubernetes Monitoring also bills container hours. Those charges don’t change because the knowledge graph is included in your stack.
How usage is calculated
Entities and insights typically add 5% to 10% more active series on top of the telemetry you were already sending.
Special considerations
What happens to your bill depends on what you turn off:
- Deactivating only the knowledge graph stops the active series that entities and insights add. The observability solutions stay active and continue to accrue their own charges.
- Deactivating the observability solutions produces the largest change, because those solutions stop sending the telemetry that creates host hours, container hours, and active series.
View your usage
The knowledge graph doesn’t appear as its own line item. Review metrics usage for the active series.
- In your Grafana Cloud stack, go to Cost Management and Billing > Usage.
- Under Product Breakdown, review metrics usage. If you use Application Observability or Kubernetes Monitoring, you can also review those products’ host hours.
