# Configure the notification and save

A contact point with a destination receives notifications when your alert fires. The message includes a **Summary** and a **Description**.

This alert reports a **percentage**, so the Summary formats the query value to one decimal place. The Description explains what 5% means.

In this milestone, choose a contact point, write the message, and save the rule.

1. Select an available **Contact point**. You can use **empty** to save a practice rule, but it cannot deliver notifications. For real alerts, choose a contact point with a destination you control.
2. In the **Summary** field (under **Configure notification message**), add:

   `QuickPizza error rate at {{ $value | printf "%.1f" }}% over the last 5 minutes`

When the alert fires, `{{ $value }}` is replaced with the live percentage.
3. In the **Description** field, add:

`Fires when the ratio of QuickPizza 5xx responses to total requests exceeds 5% over 5 minutes. Check recent deploys and the app dashboard first.`
4. Confirm the rule has a name, query, folder, and contact point. Fix validation errors, then click **Save**.

Your rule is saved. It can fire when the error rate stays above 5% past the pending period. Notifications require a contact point with a working destination.
