# Add Elasticsearch as a data source

Grafana includes built-in support for Elasticsearch. In this milestone, you add the Elasticsearch data source to your Grafana Cloud instance.

Let’s walk through the steps together.

1. In the navigation menu, navigate to **Connections > Data sources**.
2. Click **Add new data source**.
3. In the **Search** field, enter `Elasticsearch`.
4. From the search results, click **Elasticsearch**.

In the next milestone, you’ll configure the connection details including the URL, authentication, index name, and time field.
